Blog set-up and first post

You can set up your own Blogger blog by clicking here.

If you don't have a Google account, it may ask you to create one.

After setting up your blog, please email the URL to carrieanne [dot] platt [at] ndsu [dot] edu so I can add it to the Blog Roll.

Your first post should:

(1) Introduce the technology or new media phenomenon you will be blogging about this semester (it helps to start with how you became interested in it)

(2) Give a BRIEF overview of that technology or new media phenomenon (origin, current state of the technology, latest news, etc.), along with a few links to further information on the topic

(3) Provide a tentative preview of what you'll be blogging about this semester (possible topics for future posts)

If you are looking for ideas, I would recommend checking out the technology blogs featured in this Forbes.com review.

The New York Times Technology section is also full of great ideas.

If you are stuck on your introduction, I would recommend reading the introductory posts on Gizmodo and Lifehacker.

Finally, here is that list of possible blog subjects:

Convergence of traditional and new media
Cloud computing
Digital copyright issues
How the internet is changing broadcasting
Mobile phone technology / culture
Online activism
Politics and YouTube
Social networking websites like Facebook
Video games / online gaming
Web 2.0

Blog set-up and first post are due by 12 p.m. on Friday.

Let me know if you have any questions or technical issues.
