Please read and be prepared to discuss pages 53-79 from Lawrence Lessig's e-book, Free Culture.

We will meet online this Friday. We will meet in the physical classroom for the exam review on Friday, October 3.

This will be our first attempt to use the Wimba virtual classroom in Blackboard. To access this space:

1. Log into Blackboard
2. Under "My Courses," select COMM 442
3. Click on "Communication" in the left hand menu
4. Click on "Live Classrooms" in the list provided
5. Click on the blue "Enter" arrow to the right of "COMM 442 Virtual Classroom"

If this is your first time using Wimba, it will ask you to complete a system test. Part of this test checks your audio settings and microphone. Many of us don't have a microphone on our machines, so we will be using only the text chat feature. Just click "yes" to advance through the set-up wizard (even if you don't hear the tones / test your microphone).

Please log on early to complete this set-up. If you have any trouble accessing Wimba, IM me through the course blog or call my office (the number is in your syllabi).
